Damien Hirst reveals his vision for eco-homes

Damien Hirst is set to turn his hand from preserving cows to building houses.
The artist hopes his 500 eco-homes in Ilfracombe will help regenerate the North Devon town and show the way forward for environmental housing.
According to the North Devon Journal, his architects hope to submit a planning application for the development at Winsham Farm within six months and building work could start next year.
The news was revealed by architect Mike Rundell, one of Hirst’s representatives, at a meeting to discuss Ilfracombe's southern extension last week.
He said: "Damien is a local developer. He lives locally, shops locally, owns local businesses and his children go to local schools. He cares about Ilfracombe and wants this project to have a positive effect on the town.
"He wants these buildings to be landmarks that will stand the test of time and create a blueprint for quality, environmentally sustainable developments across the country. Ilfracombe will be a pioneer and Damien is incredibly excited about it."
Rundell said Hirst, who is believed to be the richest artist in the world, wanted to create an exemplary development.
"If we are committed to doing this as Damien wants it, it will happen. Damien is a man who gets things done."
