Property of the week: The Skylight House
Monday, 30 January 2012 5:41 PM
Older and more traditional houses have the ability to throw up all sorts of oddities and quirks.
Brand new ones can too, but sometimes it feels a bit forced. Not so with our property of the week. We love the way space has been used here and some of the unexpected features which pop up.
So sit back and enjoy the ride through this 2009 new build house on the edge of Plymouth. Note: in house rollercoaster not included, that'd be a bit much for a guide price of £375,000.
The design of this home allows the light to flood in, giving the living room a rather charming sunbathed look, complimented by the stylish wood staircase:
We're not sure on the dark wood look in the kitchen or the lighting arrangements, but we can't argue with that bottle of champers on the side:
No such problems in the sitting room upstairs, which manages to look quite modern, cosy and well lit with the conservatory style window:
This home is certainly all about the lighting and as you move up through the house the design provides an abundance of natural light:
The bedrooms (four) are not huge but functional:
However that is certainly made up for by the balcony space which comes with two of the bedrooms:
The balconies are on the two upper floors of the house and we definitely like the look of the view from this one:
The angled walls which give the property its stylish and modernistic feel do come at a price and this bathroom certainly looks a bit tight:
However the property does have ample space overall, split over four floors, including this garage/beer fridge room:
The house certainly stands out amongst its neighbours, exemplified by this view from the back garden:
You probably won't need to install a conservatory.
There's also no lawn to maintain in the fairly minimalist garden, which we imagine provides a great entertaining space.
We think everything shown thus far makes this house look like a bit of a quirky snip, but we've been saving the centrepiece. Without further ado, here's the awesome skylight:
It looks sort of heavenly and like the final scene of Mrs Robinson, all rolled into one. If your name is Elaine then you have to buy this property.
