What we really think about haunted houses

Hauntings and ghostly happenings are not just an issue for Halloween, according to new research by Globrix.
The property website found that 23 per cent of people believe they have lived in a haunted house and another nine per cent said that although they did not believe their house was haunted it definitely had an 'atmosphere' about it.
Ghosts do not necessarily hamper home sales. Some 48 per cent of people said it would not affect the price they would pay and 54 per cent said they would see what living in a haunted house was like before deciding to sell or hire an exorcist.
However, 15 per cent say they would not buy a home they thought was haunted even though they do not believe in ghosts themselves.
And some of us see ghoulish house guests as a bargaining tool: 17 per cent said they would offer less than the asking price.
All of which rather begs a question about the one per cent of us who say they would pay more for a haunted house.
Jennifer Warner from Globrix.com said: "It's interesting that many people would choose to live with the possibility of a few unexplained bumps in the night than miss out on their dream home."
