RIBA offers free at-home architectural advice

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and homelessness charity Shelter are joining forces to deliver free, at-home architectural consultations to homeowners across the UK as part of the Architect in the House project.
Now in its 15th year and sponsored by the Home channel, the annual scheme allows people to book a RIBA architect to visit their property and discuss ways in which they could add value to their home.
In return for the architects' time, which they give up voluntarily, the scheme asks people to make an optional donation of £40 to Shelter in order to help the charity continue its work with homeless and badly housed families.
TV presenter Sarah Beeny, best known for her straight-talking advice on Property Ladder, said: "Whether it’s a newly bought property you’re planning to renovate or you want to create extra space for a growing family, architects can add huge value by sharing their design expertise and even finding builders to carry out the work."
Householders who register for a consultation also receive a £5 discount for the RIBA Bookshop.
Applications must be made before July 3rd, and the consultation can take place any time before the end of November. To register your interest, visit ArchitectInTheHouse.org.uk.
