Home staging used to sell more UK properties

Rented furniture and accessories are increasingly being used in the 'home staging' process by UK house movers eager to make a quick sale.
According to the Little House Company, the number of people using home staging services in an effort to sell their property has seen a "remarkable" rise in recent months.
Company director Jane Marr said that many owners of empty properties are using rented furniture, appliances and items of decor to make their home more saleable.
"Home staging, styling or property presentation is increasing as desperate sellers seek professional advice on the best way to present their homes," she added.
Marr's comments follow guidance from the National Association of Estate Agents, which claimed that simply tidying up a property is the most effective way of improving its chances of selling.
Meanwhile, the latest Land Registry figures have shown that UK house prices decreased by 0.6 per cent in November, to an average of £164,773.
Asking prices increased by 2.2 per cent throughout 2010 as a whole, while values in London enjoyed an average increase of 6.8 per cent, taking the capital's standard sale price to £341,009.
