Boilers, dishwashers and double glazing save energy in the home

Homeowners who want to improve the energy efficiency of their properties can do so by installing a range of technologies, including a new boiler or dishwasher, or simply by small things like fixing a dripping tap, the National Home Improvement Show has said.
Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the show, which will be held at Earl's Court in London between October 1st and the 3rd, said secondary glazing, under-door draught stoppers and toilet water displacement devices can also help.
"Installing a new boiler will also make significant savings. Prices start from around £400 for a condensing boiler and homeowners can choose from gas, electric or oil fired," he advised.
"Alternatively, buy a jacket for your boiler."
Research from Halifax published last month shows that nearly one in five people want to move into a house that requires no home improvements.
However, some 65 per cent of homeowners would look to add extra space by converting a loft or basement in their next property, while the same number would consider adding an extension.
