Energy efficiency advice 'severely lacking' for homeowners

Homeowners need more guidance from energy companies about reducing their heating and electricity bills, according to a leading property expert.
Having someone to guide homeowners through the "minefield" that is energy efficiency is crucial, according to It's Not Easy Being Green's Dick Strawbridge.
The BBC show presenter explained that Britons are not getting the leadership they need from energy companies.
Mary Turner, chief executive of home energy management service AlertMe, added: "People have very busy lives.
"We need very simple information you can actually action on - because with energy use, you cannot actually see the waste."
The comments follow research published by Marketiers last week, which revealed eight out of ten Brits believe energy saving advice offered by companies is useless.
Half indicated that the information they get from gas and electricity suppliers is ineffective for helping them reduce their carbon footprint, with many claiming that they are not encouraged to have better green intentions.
