Home solar panels should be 'a badge of honour'

Homeowners who use solar panels on their property should be proud that they are committed to energy efficiency, according to HomeSun.
The solar system company's chief executive officer, Daniel Green, said solar panels should be a "badge of honour" showing that they are prepared to make a difference for their own families and the wider community.
"It does really change your attitude, but unlike cavity wall insulation or some other thing which nobody ever sees, this is a public display and anybody who walks past knows that you are somebody who wants to make a difference," he commented.
HomeSun this month announced that it is looking to install solar panels on 100,000 homes free of charge over the next three years, planning to reclaim the money through feed-in tariffs.
It comes shortly after Norwegian company EnSol AS announced the development of a new technique for harnessing green energy through thin-film solar cell technology.
