'No good arguments' against solar panels

There are no good arguments against having solar panels installed in the home, it has been suggested.
Making his comments at the Homebuilding and Renovating Show at the Birmingham NEC, home eco expert Tim Pullen said that solar panels work and they do not need much attention from the homeowner for around 25 years of use.
He said that the first step homeowners should take to make their homes more environmentally friendly is to look at the walls of the property, as this is where 35 per cent of the heat is lost.
Mr Pullen claimed that having cavity wall insulation is a good idea if the homeowner has a decent cavity, but if they do not then it is not such a positive step.
He added that the government's planned introduction of feed-in tariffs is likely to encourage homeowners to think about the benefits of adopting the technology.
The scheme could see homes with solar panels being rewarded with up to £900 and an annual reduction of £140 on electricity bills, according to the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
