Self-build specialist BuildStore has reported a significant increase in demand for its services, including a new Self Build Course.
The company's services, which include land-finding, self build finance, and technical project support, provide homeowners with the skills they need to build their own home.
The eight-part Self Build Course, hosted by BuildStore's National Self Build & Renovation Centre, has been created for first-time self builders to learn and understand the principles, skills and key decisions involved in building a home.
BuildStore have seen finance and land enquiries up just over 37 per cent on this time last year, which they said was down to "homeowners turning into 'home-builders' in an effort to build their way out of the recession".
Launched earlier this year, the Self Build course was developed by experts at the National Centre in Swindon. Having proved very popular, BuildStore has announced it will be running the course again, starting this month.
David Snell, course lecturer, said: "This is a comprehensive course, which provides the ideal foundation for delegates to go on to successfully self-build their own home. The National Self Build & Renovation Centre is a perfect environment, and the course has been remarkably popular, well structured, and well run.
"I look forward to delivering the next course and helping more people find their inner 'self-builder'!"
