Aberystwyth is the most highly-rated town to be studying in, new research reveals.
The Welsh market town was rated top for going out, shops, transport links, its community spirit and facilities, scoring 64 per cent in the survey.
Closely behind were Brighton, Manchester, Exeter, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee, all in second place with 62 per cent.
The next best university locations were the Welsh cities of Cardiff, Swansea and Bangor, the English cities of Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield, and the Northern Irish capital Belfast tied on 60 per cent.
At the other end of the table the Pontypridd, Salford, Hatfield and Bolton were worst rated, scoring 40 per cent.
Also low down the table were London and Cambridge, scoring 56 per cent each.
"This information, available on our website, represents students' real opinions about where they study and is, of course, helpful to students going to university for the first time. It is also useful for existing students who are looking to move as it also provides a breakdown of the best areas within cities," explained Simon Thompson, co-founder and director of AccommodationForStudents.com, who carried out the survey.
"For instance, in the city of Manchester the area of Fallowfield comes out as the top place to live for students. For Brighton, it's Bevendean and for Cardiff, Cathays," said Mr Thompson.
