A report released today by Halifax Estate Agents reveals the best value seaside town in Britain.
According to the report Bridlington, located in Yorkshire and Humber, is the costal town with the best-value for money in the country.
The average house price in the town is £139,645.
"There are still some bargains to be had for home buyers. Bridlington, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth are the three seaside towns in Britain that offer the best value for money," said Colin Kemp, managing director of Halifax Estate Agents.
Lowestoft has an average house price of £141,878 and property in Great Yarmouth sells for an average of £142,860.
However, seaside towns are generally expected to be more expensive than the national average, commanding a premium of up to three per cent.
"Seaside towns tend to have house prices that are at a premium to their surrounding areas and have generally seen strong house price growth over the past few years," continued Mr Kemp.
Sandbanks, in Dorset, is the most expensive seaside town in the country with an average house price of £488,761.
Indeed it is one of the most expensive towns of any description in Britain.
Nine of the ten most expensive seaside towns in the country are located in the south-west, with Padstow and Milford on Sea the next most expensive towns, with average house prices of £334,385 and £326,277 respectively.
