Property Ladder
A programme that invokes as much shouting at the TV as Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, Property Ladder sees wannabe developers try and make the property ladder work for them.

The first-time property developers are not going into the show blind – they have the help of presenter and expert, Sarah Beeny – but did they listen to her advice? Rarely.

At the start of each episode of Property Ladder, a dilapidated house that a profit can hopefully be made on is purchased and then renovated.

Those featured on the show have often given up their jobs to pursue the dream of becoming a successful property developer, but become so wrapped up in designing the dream home that they lose sight of what is most important – making a profit.

Beeny always has advice on how to minimise their costs and maximise their profits, but while the advice is sometimes heeded, it is often ignored if it does not fit in with the developers' vision.

Every episode of Property Ladder concludes with estate agents giving an estimate on what the final product is worth, as the developers see their profits dwindle away because they almost always go over budget.

And every episode leaves viewers asking the same thing: "Why didn't they listen to Sarah?"
