Barbados Superhome
Flying in the face of restraint and minimalism, Superhomes showcases some of the most flabbergastingly over-the-top houses on the planet.

Unlike the property shows which look at the endeavours of people trying to build their dream home on a shoe-string budget, these houses in Superhomes have been built on anything but.

Among the decadent digs on the show is the Hong Kong house occupied by Hari Harilela – and his extended family of 65 people and 35 staff. Boasting multiple living rooms, 40 bedrooms and 20 garages, his was a home that looked more like a luxury hotel than a city centre pad.

Closer to home, in London, there are also impressive feats of finances and architecture, including Lucy Fitzpatrick's home in Grosvenor estate, which features a playroom that turns into a swimming pool at the touch of a button.

Then there is the world's most expensive house, also in the UK – Updown Court – which costs a cool £70 million.

For £70 million, one gets a house bigger than both Buckingham Palace and Hampton Court, boasting five swimming pools, including one in the master bedroom.
