Tom Cruise seeks home in Malta

Tom Cruise is reportedly considering a move to the Mediterranean island of Malta, where fellow Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt has a home.
The Times of Malta say the Top Gun and Mission Impossible star fell in love with the island after visiting Pitt earlier in the year.
He is said to be searching for a Maltese pad with six bedrooms, a swimming pool, a gym and a mammoth 200 square foot living room.
Ray Woods, owner of www.maltabuyproperty.co.uk, said: "Our typical clients' needs may be more modest than Tom Cruise, but we still aim to help them receive the film star treatment in finding their dream home. No mission is impossible for us!"
Malta is famous as one of the world's smallest states, spanning just 122 square miles.
It has a population of just over 400,000 and is a popular tourist destination, particularly for visitors from the UK, the country it gained independence from in 1964.
Woods added: "The island does not have many natural resources, yet its economy is holding up well against the backdrop of the problems in the rest of Europe. Malta has always placed a heavy emphasis on culture."
"The Malta government recently reiterated its commitment to the film industry by allocating a further €250,000 to its development – a sizeable amount for such a small island."
Another large benefit of the island is the fact it does not have a property tax, making it an appealing overseas investment opportunity.
Tom Cruise's potential arrival on the island coincides with the European Film Academy Awards, which are due to take place on the island next year.
The actor, who is currently promoting 'Ghost Protocol' is set to return to Malta for filming at
the end of 2012, but is said to be keen to buy rather than rent.
Malta is a destination on the up, with capital Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, due to be European Capital of Culture in 2018.
Tom Cruise would join a lengthy list of super rich investors on Malta, including Chelsea football club owner and Russian tycoon Roman Abramovic, whose super yacht 'Eclipse' is based on the island.
