Why live in Britain when you could live...

In April-June 2011, the average house price in the UK was £228,095, and with one square foot costing around £2,230 in London, Britain is one of the most expensive places to own a property.
With international shipping becoming increasingly easy and with the UK inflation rate amongst the highest in Western Europe, it is no wonder that an increasing number of British citizens are looking to pack their bags. What, then, can the average house cost in the UK get you across the world?
Firstly, let’s put this into context: investing £220,000 in the outskirts of the industrial town of Bradford in Yorkshire could get you this three-bedroom, semi-detached cottage.

In London, roughly the same amount of money would secure you this studio apartment in Marble Arch, with a bedroom-come-kitchen-come-lounge-come diner all nicely laid out in one ‘compact’ room.

Now let’s have a quick hop across the pond to Florida. Just over £228,000 can get you this luxury villa, complete with six bedrooms, three bathrooms and a double garage. And of course, what Florida villa would be complete without a pool?

If the long, sandy beaches of the Gulf Coast are not quite what you are looking for and city lights and urban living is more your style, surely this two-bedroom modern apartment with sea views and a top-floor terrace pool, smack bang in the middle of Sydney, would satisfy.

Looking for something more rural? The municipality of Morbach lies in a mountain range peppered with rolling hills, stretches of forest and some of the cleanest air readings in all of Northern Europe. £230,000 will secure you this four-bedroom property, which comes complete with expansive gardens and breath taking views.

Thailand
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in an eco-friendly beach house stationed right in front of the sea? You could always get this property on Phi Phi Island, just off the Andaman Thai Coast.

CapeTown
This two-bedroom property in Cape Town with sea and mountain views (not forgetting both an indoor and outdoor kitchen, of course) is on the market for around £140,500. At that price, you could grab a bargain and still have some spare change to play with. About £80,000 that is...

If you were in the market for an investment, in Bulgaria you could snap up this 40-room hotel structure for just under £200,000. Ok, it is in need of work, but you will have some change and hey – this is not just a building, it comes with 12,000 square metres of land too!

Sun, sea and sand not your thing? Well how about a one-bedroom apartment in this new development, situated between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc in one of the largest and most popular skiing areas in France? Needless to say, these apartments are not wanting in terms of views.

Ok, so £228,095 won't buy you the whole property, however it will get you an apartment occupying an entire floor, with exclusive use of a heated indoor pool, gym, sauna and steam room. There is also the essential bar with a roulette table, library and large French windows, which open onto a wraparound terrace just to be certain that you can soak in those views.
