Affordable villa development launches in Mauritius

Mauritius. Even the name conveys beauty and exoticism – and, until now, prohibitively pricey property developments within the reach of an irritatingly exclusive elite.
But now the (gloriously clear) tide is turning, with the launch of 12 surprisingly affordable beachfront villas. Each Coral Residence property has concierge service from Quintessentially and its own pool, and one can be yours from as little as EUR574,000. A rental investment option is also available under the Real Estate Scheme.
You can choose between three bedrooms in a 254sqm property or four in a 345sqm property, with plots ranging from 800-1,600sqm. The project is due for completion in the second half of 2012.
Coral Residence has been designed by French architect Alain Gourdon, whose combination of contemporary and traditional Mauritian styles results in the perfect dwelling from which to take in the 180-degree views of the lagoon and magnificent Lion Mountain.

The villas are in Vieux Grant Port Mahebourg, a gorgeous town in the south-east of Mauritius situated just ten minutes from the airport. It is removed from the tourist hustle and bustle, with the big malls and golf courses about half an hour's drive away.
The Mauritian government welcomes foreign investment in property and so there's a favourable taxation and legal framework. Overseas purchasers can buy freehold residential property and secure residential permits for themselves and their family without a problem.
And if Mauritius's robust economy, which has grown by 5.6 per cent per annum for the past 25 years, wasn't enough to convince you that this would make the perfect holiday home, just think of your friends' faces when they receive their postcards...
