Record breaking LA penthouse sold
A luxury residential development in Los Angeles has broken the record for the most expensive apartment ever sold.

The penthouse apartment at The Century - a Related Sales' development in Century City, LA – sold for $15 million (£7.3 million), setting a new record price of more than $2,700 (£1,320) per-square-foot, for a Los Angeles apartment.

Designed by Robert AM Stern Architects, The Century is a 42-storey building set in nearly four acres of space in the heart of Century City, with views across downtown Los Angeles to the Santa Monica mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

"Wealthy LA buyers are extremely astute and have purchased multiple homes in Montecito, Malibu, New York, Aspen and other destinations, have found they can still have the ultimate Los Angeles lifestyle while also gaining resort-like services and amenities," said David Wine, vice chairman of Related Sales.

The development also contains an exceptional array of services and unrivalled amenities, with the private landscaped estate gardens featuring outdoor entertaining rooms with fireplaces, fountains, walking paths and private spaces.

Furthermore, the 75-foot pool comes with a privately owned cabanas. ???

The Century will also have an on-site signature restaurant that will cater to the residents as well as provide poolside and outdoor dining.

"We are encouraged to see this sale as such a strong start to sales at The Century," Susan de França, president of Related Sales.

"When designing The Century, we envisioned so much more than a luxury building, but a completely new alternative to other condominiums previously built in Los Angeles.

"Buyers are recognising that The Century offers unparalleled design and amenities with elegance, innovation and lasting value and thus will garner the top prices in Los Angeles."
