Central Bulgaria: The 'hidden gem of Europe'
Central Bulgaria is three times as cheap and gets three times as much sun as areas of Britain, making it the ideal holiday home investment location, according to SimpliBulgaria.com.

The region has the similar sweeping views, idyllic lakes and exhilarating walks as the British Lake District, but with a sunnier climate and lower prices, according to the overseas property investment specialists.

On average there was 9.54 cm of precipitation in the Lake District during May to July this year, compared to just 2.13cm in Veliko Tarnovo, central Bulgaria.

Similarly the average temperature stood at 22.6C in the Bulgarian town, while the Lake District recorded an average of 13.06C.

"When I first saw the Central Stara Planina Mountains near the ancient capital of Veliko Tarnovo I couldn't believe how beautiful they were," commented Rob Downham, joint managing director of SimpliBulgaria.

Bulgaria has more animal diversity than any other country in Europe and approximately 3,567 different types of fauna.

The region is also ideal for trekking as the nearby Stara Planina Mountains provide an ideal environment, as well as for horse riding, fishing, orienteering and even hunting.

Prices are also cheap for basic commodities.

A bottle of beer will may cost as little as 50 pence, compared to £2 in the Lake District. Food and leisure activities are also comparatively cheap.

A recent study, carried out by estate agent Knight Frank, also found Bulgaria had the cheapest property in Europe, averaging just €54,570 (£38,240).
