Good enough to eat: the chocolate room
In an interesting twist on interior design, an exhibit at a forthcoming property show will feature an edible room made entirely from chocolate.
The exhibit, from the walls and the furniture, to the paintings and the fittings, will literally be good enough to eat.
The chocolate room is the work of celebrated food artist Prudence Emma Staite, whose previous works have involved bacon, cheese and sponge cake.
Ms Staite is used to making full size chocolate figures, but a full-size room including a solid chocolate fireplace provided a new challenge.
Visitors to the Home Show, which opens at ExCeL, London, on April 20th, will be able to eat sections of the room each day. Missing bits will be replaced every night with a fresh batch of chocolate.
"I invite viewers to interact with my work by biting, licking, smelling and ultimately digesting it. It's very interesting to see how people react to eating this way in public," Ms Staite said.
"Some just go straight in and start munching while others can be quite secretive by taking a piece and eating it privately, out of sight."
It gives new meaning to the phrase "eating me out of house and home".
