Escape to the Country

Escape to the Country
Escape to the Country explodes the myth that idyllic country living is unobtainable, and that cramped urban living is a necessity rather than a choice.

Each episode Catherine Gee and former estate agent Nick Page help city-dwellers move from the smoke to a more rural, picturesque way of living.

The presenters manage to root out some remarkable properties, like country manors and castles, as well as more standard and affordable homes such as bungalows and thatched cottages.

In past episodes, the show has looked at a couple who want to swap their office jobs in Croydon for a B&B near Loch Ness in Scotland, and a family moving from London to the West Country, where they plan to go green and generate their own electricity.

Because of Escape to the Country's focus on the countryside, Catherine and Nick are able to more fully explore the rural lifestyles offered in the regions of choice, making it useful viewing for those considering their own break from the city.
