Open Gardens

Tuesday, 22 Jan 2008 16:33
Carol Klein of Open Gardens
Open Gardens follows Carol Klein as she explores the four corners of the UK in search of the most fascinating gardening delights.

The show visits every form of garden - from wild Cumbrian fells to small beachside havens – in an attempt to help amateur horticulturalists achieve their dreams.

In each episode Carol helps improve one garden so in the hope it will be accepted into the National Gardens Scheme - and win a coveted place in the organisation's Yellow Book.

A second garden is also featured in each show - one which has already achieved elite status as a member of the National Gardens Scheme - and is now ready to open its gates to the public for the first time.

The criteria state an Open Garden must provide forty-five minutes of interest. Size is irrelevant to success, as each garden is judged on the quality and variety of its planting.
