A Place in the Sun is a successful show that quenches the viewer's thirst for both property and travel programmes.

Given a helping hand by presenter Amanda Lamb, British friends and couples are guided through the foreign country of their dreams, where they hope to find either a new home or somewhere to take a break in.

A dedicated team of researchers root out several properties to be considered by the house-hunters, who are guided round them and given expert advice by Ms Lamb and her co-hosts, Victoria Hollingsworth, Jasmine Harman, Seetha Hallett, Zilpah Hartley and Simone Bienne.

Success-stories on A Place in the Sun include affordable properties in sunny European locations such as Greece and Crete, as well as closer-to-home countryside destinations like Devon.

A Place in the Sun has also branched out to help couples explore the more far flung, but affordable property investment regions, such as Acapulco in Mexico, where £200,000 can buy six bedroom penthouse apartments.
