As one of the country's most important cities, Manchester is an exciting and up-and-coming urban location for first-time buyers, those already on the property ladder and investors.

Boasting plenty of variety and styles of residential property, the city's housing is experiencing strong investment, with urban regeneration schemes pouring money into conservation areas in the city centre and on the Greater Manchester borders.

"In 1951 the population of Manchester was 700,000," he said. "Now it's 440,000. How much more can it take? About 300,000."
