South Woodford property guide
The north-east London suburb of South Woodford has fast seen its property landscape transformed by lots of new developments.
The attraction for homeowners is the location's fast links to both the Docklands and the City. The tube station is located in Zone 4, with Liverpool Street a 20 minute journey away on the Central Line, and Canary Wharf around 35 minutes, travelling via Stratford.
The centre of South Woodford is George Lane, which though not very large, is packed with amenities including two supermarkets, restaurants old and new, and a handful of pubs.
The area has an up and coming feel to it, despite the rows of well-established Victorian terraced properties and older local population, which combined with low crime rates makes it popular with Londoner's looking for a less hectic alternative to urban living.
There may not be a large local park, but there are several areas of Epping Forest to explore, particularly when heading north towards nearby Woodford, Buckhurst and Loughton.
And despite being well networked via the Central Line, South Woodford is also ideal for escaping the capital as it is the starting point of the M11 motorway.
According to the property website Rightmove.co.uk, terraced homes have sold for an average of £304,863 over the last two years, with flats going for £205,269, semi-detached properties for £395,579 and detached homes £522,681.
The majority of properties sold in South Woodford over the past two years are flats and terraces.
