Located within 15 minutes walk of Manchester's most popular shopping streets, and known for being a quieter, more relaxed part of the city centre, Castlefield is a growing Manchester property hotspot.
The area is home to Granada TV and Manchester's Museum Of Science and Industry, as well as plenty of canals, wharfs and historic buildings that add character, and growth potential to Castlefield.
The site of several new developments, it is a great place for buyers looking for urban living without compromising on location.
"It's a nice and quaint location in the city centre, but not too busy," explained Frances Jones, of City Residential.
There are waterside pubs and bars for relaxing in the evening, and Castlefield also has the advantage of being next to the newly developed business quarter, Spinningfields, which has recently seen the opening of chains such as Café Rouge and Est Est Est.
Ms Jones added because Castlefield was not at the back of town, occupying the south-western edge of the city centre, residents would also find it relatively easy to access the motorways.
How much do properties in Castlefield cost?
The area has a large number of one and two-bed flats, making it more suited to buyers wanting the quieter, more luxurious side of city centre living, or buy-to-let investors. Prices are mostly out of reach for first-time buyers, and properties are too small for families.
Two-bed new build apartments are available for around £200,000, though parking tends to be an extra £25,000. A one-bed new build can be had from £120,000, but again, parking is an extra.
According to online estate agent Rightmove, the price of an apartment in the M3 postcode averaged £186,108, over the last two years.
