Rooftop Rainforest brings the jungle to the city

An ambitious project is being brought to Sky TV next month, as one ecologist and wildlife expert attempts to build an indoor rainforest in one of London's busiest shopping centres.
Rooftop Rainforest will feature Dusty Gedge constructing a facility to house tropical trees, animals, insects and plants on the roof of the Westfield Centre in Shepherd's Bush.
The two-part programme, which is part of the broadcaster's Rainforest Week, is being screened on Sky1 and Sky1 HD on Monday April 4th and Tuesday April 5th at 20:00BST.
Gedge not only has to battle with logistical and planning obstacles, but he is also working against the clock in order to get the facility ready for WWF's Earth Hour, which takes place at 20.30GMT on Saturday March 26th.
"This is a unique endeavour for someone who creates habitats at roof level. No one has attempted to create a rainforest on a roof before. It is certainly an interesting challenge but pretty daunting too," he stated.
Earth Hour, of which Gedge's project will form a major part, will attempt to show the importance of the long-term conservation of natural habitats found around the world.
During Rainforest Week, viewers will also be able to view a number of programmes on Sky Movies, including the premiere of Rio Special and blockbuster Avatar.
