Homes Under the Hammer

Thursday, 26 Jan 2006 14:53
Homes Under the Hammer
Homes Under the Hammer provides invaluable advice on tackling the sometimes daunting world of house auctions, through which more than 30,000 homes are bought every year.

While there are opportunities to bag oneself a bargain home at auction, there are pitfalls to be aware of, and presenters Lucy Alexander and Martin Roberts give pointers on avoiding these.

They explain the ins and outs of the auction, from preparation and research down to the brass tacks of bidding. Every week they visit different parts of the country and pick out three often unusual properties that are going under the hammer.

Lucy and Martin meet prospective house buyers, and see who dares to go that little bit further to pick up a cheap deal.

In past weeks, houses going under the hammer have included a former pet shop and a house with its own complex of underground garages.
