Personalised bathrooms increasingly popular

A growing number of homeowners across Britain are looking to personalise their bathrooms with interior design that features bright colour, according to an expert at Showerdrape.
Jack Shalom, sales director at the company, said that home improvement fans were being a "little bit more daring" with their second bathrooms and cloakrooms in particular, introducing bolder shades and novelties to inject some fun and individuality into the space.
"There has been a major movement away from whites and natural colours to much brighter colours – that is the trend that is happening in bathrooms at the moment," he told AboutProperty at the Totally DIY show in Birmingham.
Shalom added: "The novelty products also always have a place; they have a short lifespan, but they work for us."
His comments follow recent research by Halifax which found that 13 per cent of people had opted to get friends or family involved with their bathroom makeover, instead of relying on professional tradesmen.
But this could represent a false economy, as the mortgage lender's survey also revealed that, on average, more than one in six DIY jobs goes wrong, with a typical cost of £426 to put botched bathrooms and kitchens right again.
