How Clean is Your House?

Monday, 08 Jan 2007 16:50
Aggie and Kim of How Clean is Your House?
First broadcast in 2004, How Clean is Your House? takes viewers to the very heart of other people's depravity.

During the show hosts Kim and Aggie visit some of the dirtiest homes in the UK and America, finding out just how bad things can get - before attempting to clean the property in question and teach the inhabitants a lesson in hygiene.

Once the filthiest homes have been located and the cleaning has begun tips are offered to viewers on how to handle some of the dirtiest household chores, with the, some might say, forlorn hope, of improving national standards of cleanliness.

A science element of the show also allows Aggie to take swab samples from the homes in order to have them analysed in a lab. When the results are returned, the hosts show the homeowners the bacteria and dangers they were exposed to.

The programme is often camp, with Kim wearing an all-white outfit with her trademark fur-lined rubber gloves and pearls, and is usually good humoured in its caustic attacks on slovenly homeowners.

Cleaning tips also add some practical elements to the show, which remains one of the most popular of its kind on television.
