Supplier profile: Elka laminate flooring

Wednesday, 16 March 2011 7:23 PM

Elka flooring is a maker of top quality laminate products, with a stated commitment to producing the best floors of this type using the latest technology available.

Such a commitment has been allied to the production of a wide variety of items, with the aim being to ensure the customer has plenty to choose from. As well as laminate, Elka also produces hardwood, solid wood and engineered wood floors.

It also sets out to meet the needs of different clients, with Elka laminate flooring available in different grades. AC3 is the grade designed for use in the home and in small commercial premises, while the maker also provides extra-resilient AC4 laminate that is made for large commercial premises and public buildings, where the level of footfall will be that much greater.

The company specialises in certain features in its flooring products and one of these is the use of v-grooves, or bevelled edges, in its products. This means that the planking on its floors has a pronounced join, something that is designed to give the floor greater definition and a modern style.

Another feature of the Elka range is the number of different wood types represented by the different laminate floors it produces. This includes maple, oak, walnut and unusual types such as wenge, with various different shades and effects to choose from.

The items mostly have 192 mm plank widths but one alternative on offer is that of two-strip flooring, which means each plank has two strips made up of short staves that overlap each other like bricks in a wall.

With the products being made of tough or very tough grades of laminate, the warranties are of at least 15 years and in some cases 20 years, designed to give purchasers peace of mind.

In order to provide a comprehensive service, the manufacturer also produces accessories to go with its floors. Elka flooring underlay comes in several forms, each of which is designed to suit particular conditions. For example, underlay for a wooden sub-floor does not require a moisture barrier, whereas such protection is incorporated into the underlays for use on concrete subfloors.

This wide range of high-quality products is one of the main reasons why UK Flooring Direct stocks items made by Elka.
