Q&A: How do I build a wetroom floor?

Q: “I am creating a wetroom in an under-stair cupboard. I will be replacing the floorboards with ply sheeting. How do I create a fall towards the waste (my shower outlet) to ensure water drains away effectively? I do not want a step up into the showering area.”
Stephen, Isle of Man
A: "I would recommend using a pre-formed shower floor that would sit directly down to your joists. These are moulded with a fall towards the waste, so there is no need to use screed to create the fall yourself.
"Roman offers a preformed shower floor which is designed exactly for this purpose – it is 22mm thick to be totally compatible to sit flush with WBP board, therefore there will be no step up into the showering area, and it is designed with a natural fall towards the waste. You can then simply tank and tile over this to create the complete wetroom finish."
